The yield forecast bulletin is a report launched every fifteen days during growing season on the expected yield for some rain feed crops in Castile and Leon. Its main purpose is to give a new source of information to public institutions, companies or any entity that needs to have a general idea of the crop production in the region. The Agro-Technological Institute of Castile and Leon (ITACyL), the Spanish Nacional Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and The Regional Agriculture Ministry of Castile y Leon have collaborated for creating this bulletin.

The methodology is objetive and reproducible so that it gives uniform and coherent information over all the region. The method is based on the sistematic execution of the agronomic model AquaCrop 4.0 (FAO). It runs at more than twenty three thousand locations over the region and uses a 30-year climatic data serie from about 200 meteorological stations. Every execution produces a pool of results showing the crop development in the current season and estimating the expected yield. This expected yield is compared with the one obtained in the simulation of the last 30-years seasons. More details about the method can be found in the Methodology tab on this same Web site.
